College University of New York CUNY Scholarships is uniquely designed for students to study at the university at an affordable price. The university noticed that students find it difficult to study at the university due to the rising cost of living and deemed it fit to assist with scholarships for deserving students.
The esteemed scholarships listed here offer financial aid and other forms of support to deserving students to help with their graduate and undergraduate education. These scholarships all share the distinction of being among the most prestigious available, and as such, they can have a profound, irreversible effect on the lives of the students who are awarded them.
NYCHA-CUNY Resident Scholarship
You might qualify for a $1,000 NYCHA-CUNY Resident Scholarship or the Regina A. Figueroa Memorial Scholarship for NYCHA residents with disabilities if you live in NYCHA and are enrolled in a CUNY Community or Senior College.
These scholarships are just one of the many ways CUNY and NYCHA collaborate to support the academic success of people who live in public housing and attend CUNY. The kind assistance of public and private partners is what enables all scholarships to be awarded. Additionally, if you have previously applied for one of these scholarships and still meet the requirements, we encourage you to do so once more.
General Eligibility Requirements:
- Section 8 resident or authorized NYCHA resident
- 24 credits or more at the time of application
- a minimum GPA of 3.0
- a full-time undergraduate student enrolling right now in a CUNY community or senior college.
Jonas E. Salk CUNY Scholarships
The first vaccine to prevent polio was developed by Dr Jonas E. Salk, a world-famous scientist and alumnus of The City College of New York. The scholarship was established in his honour by the Board of Estimate of the City of New York in 1955.
Eight graduates of CUNY senior colleges who have been accepted by and intend to attend American medical or graduate schools are given the Jonas Salk Scholarships each year. Awards are given based on academic achievement, particularly on scientific research that students have carried out while still undergraduates. Students are chosen by the Salk Award Selection Committee based on their potential to significantly advance medical research. The pre-medical offices on campus are where students must submit their scholarship applications.
Salk Scholarship recipients get a total of $8,000 over the course of four years to assist in covering the costs of education for doctoral degrees in biomedical sciences, M.D. and D.O. degrees, and other related degrees.

The Jonas Salk Scholarships are awarded annually to eight graduates of CUNY senior colleges who have been accepted by, and plan to attend, U.S. medical or graduate schools.
Jacqueline Schiller Fund Scholarship
The Jacqueline Schiller Fund was founded by The New York Community Trust to offer scholarships to CUNY students majoring in language and art history who are among the finest and brightest and who can show financial need in the fields of literature and history. That will be considered when reviewing applications. The current eligibility requirements apply to matriculating students at the Associate’s, Baccalaureate, Master’s, and Doctoral levels. There will be 13 $1,000 scholarships awarded for this academic year.
Any unmet needs and unpaid tuition fees will be covered by the Schiller Scholarship. The money is transferred right to the student’s account.
