Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) to Study in Holland
The Orange Knowledge Programme is now accepting applications from qualified applicants who want to study in the Netherlands. The Orange Knowledge Programme, a new phase of the Netherlands Fellowship, aims to encourage the development of capacity and knowledge in higher and vocational education for both individuals and institutions. The Orange Knowledge Programme intends to contribute to the sustainable and inclusive development of society. Its scholarships are available to professionals in their mid-career in selected nations.
On July 1, 2017, the Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) entered a new phase as a new program known as the Kennisontwikkelings programma (KOP), or Orange Knowledge Programme in English (OKP). KOP seeks to improve the capacity, knowledge, and quality development of both individuals and institutions in higher and vocational education.
Level/Field of Study
The Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) provides scholarships sponsored by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a variety of courses, including:
- Short courses (from two weeks to a year);
- master’s programs (duration 12 to 24 months)
Eligibility for the Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP)
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for the Orange Knowledge Programme:
- Be a professional and a national of one of the countries included on the Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) Country list at the time of application.
- Have a current employer’s statement that meets the formal Nuffic requirements. Any information must be presented, and all formal obligations must be endorsed in the statement.
- Not work for a company that is supposed to have its own finances for employee development.
- Have a current employer’s statement that follows the format provided by Nuffic.
- A government statement that meets the standards of the country in which the employer is based is required (if applicable)
- Have an official passport that is valid for at least three months following the candidate’s registration form submission date.
Requirements to Apply for the Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP)
A small number of scholarships are available for female and male professionals who are:
- motivated;
- living and working in an OKP country;
- fluent in English or French;
- working in one of their country’s priority areas;
- capable of motivating using and transferring their knowledge and experience in their employing organization after their studies;
- agreeing to the OKP obligations and conditions.
Application Process
- Check whether your application falls inside the OKP target areas established for your country.
- Check to see whether you match the OKP eligibility requirements.

- Inquire with your employer about the possibility of being nominated for an OKP scholarship.
- Contact the Dutch education institution of your choice to learn more about the application process, academic criteria, and the online application link.
- Prepare your application by writing an employer statement, a motivation letter, a passport, and a government statement (if required).
- Submit your application online during an application round using the URL provided by the Dutch education institution. Please keep in mind the application deadline of your preferred educational institution.
Selection Process
The steps are as follows:
- Candidates enrol in their Dutch educational institution.
- A Dutch institution recommends candidates and submits a funding application.
- Embassies verify eligibility and evaluate applications.
- Available selection results for Dutch educational institutions
- Grants given by Dutch educational institutes
The results of applications are announced three to four months after they are submitted. The Dutch education institution where you applied for the scholarship will contact you with the outcome of your application.
Scholarship Award
A fellowship from the Orange Knowledge Programme is meant to supplement the salary you should continue to receive while studying in the Netherlands.
The allowance contributes to your living expenses, tuition fees, visas, travel, insurance, and thesis research.
The fellowship holder is expected to reimburse the difference between the actual costs and the amount of the personal KOP NFP allowances, if applicable.
