Here’s How to Win the $1,000 Calahe Scholarship!

Connecticut Association of Latinos in Higher Education, CALAHE, is an academic network committed to promoting the participation of Latinos in different departments of the universities. This organisation was born as the population of Latinos in universities was increasing significantly. CALAHE Organisation was founded in 1978 by lecturers from different Universities in the State. This NGO or non-profit organisation were created to address the needs of Latino students, staff, faculty and administrators in the state’s colleges and universities.

Every year, CALAHE carves out $1000 to assist Latinos studying at a University in the United States. This need-based financial assistance is for undergraduates and is aimed to cover academic expenses for Latino students. This scholarship is quite competitive because it is the dream of every Latino that knows about this scholarship to be a recipient of the scholarship. This is because $1,000 is a lot of money for most undergraduates and it is a joy to have your academic bills (partially or completely) by your people.

Eligibility for the CALAHE Scholarship

To qualify for the CALAHE scholarship, the following must be met:

  1. Undergraduate of a University or a student of a high school
  2. Be from Latinx
  3. Must have lived in Connecticut for at least one year.
  4. Prove that he/she needs financial assistance.
  5. Must have partaken in community service for the Latinx people.

Required Document for the CALAHE Scholarship

If you meet up with the eligibility for the scholarship, congratulations to you. However, you need to get the following papers to be considered for the scholarship:

  1. Download and diligently filled out the application form.
  2. Undocumented/DACA students must submit the Verification of Financial Need form
  3. Acceptance letter from your current university of study
  4. Essay on the topic: “How do you feel this scholarship is going to impact your ability to pursue your education?
  5. Two letters of recommendation. At least one of it must be from a teacher or lecturer
  6. Official transcript from your current university of study
  7. A copy of The Federal Student Aid Report (SAR) or Undocumented/DACA students must submit the Verification of Financial Need.

How to Apply for the CALAHE Scholarship

After gathering all required documents for this scholarship application, you shall then mail your application to calahe2017@gmail.com.

Kindly be informed that if your papers are not complete, your application will not be considered.

Scholarship Deadline

CALAHE is currently accepting applications until June 2024 when the application will be officially closed and any subsequent application will not be considered for the scholarship. Make hays while the sun shines.

All Scholarship Recipients must attend the scholarship reception, and the date and location are to be determined. Students who do not, or cannot attend the reception will forfeit their award. Objectives of the CALAHE Organization

The Connecticut Association of Latinos in Higher Education was created to meet certain objectives, here are they; to

  • empower Connecticut higher education to give vital maintenance administrations to Latino/Latina undergraduates and workers.
  • advocate access and hiring of Latinos/Latinas in Connecticut higher education.
  • advance and work with the investment of Latino people group in higher education all through Connecticut.
  • monitor public policy and regulation connected with higher education in Connecticut.
  • encourage Connecticut to provide necessary recruitment services and programs for our Latino/Latina students and employees.
  • promote and facilitate the participation and representation of Latino communities in higher education throughout Connecticut.
