The Connecticut Higher Education Trust (CHET) Advance Scholarship is a yearly program presented by the State Treasurer’s Office to assist Connecticut students with paying for school. The grant is accessible to high school seniors and higher school rookies.
The reason for the CHET Advance Scholarship Program is to help students and their families to put something aside for school expenditures and to assist aspiring undergraduates with the financial burden of being in school. Also, to qualify for this scholarship you need to be a student in senior high school to be part of the class of 2024 graduates with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or better through the end of 11th grade. You can also apply if you are a freshman.
In addition, CHET does not fancy multiple applications. However, you will not be disqualified if you apply more than once. Just that CHET will not consider other applications after the first one.

Requirements to Apply for the CHET Advance Scholarship Program
For High School Students
- Written or video essay about your future goals or any current community leadership role you play.
- Academic record and extracurricular participation.
For High School Freshmen
- Must be enrolled in a Category 1 or Category 2 school; Academic record is not a requirement since you are a freshman.
- You must also confirm that you intend to further your education on or before 30th September 2024. You can defer college for one year post-high-school graduation if you want to.

Submit your application on the CHET Big Dream application portal before the application deadline.
Deadline for the CHET Advance Scholarship Program
You are expected to submit your application between August and October 2024. Subsequent submissions after October will be labelled invalid and not be considered for the scholarship.
Selection Process
CHET goes through all applications and selects its 80 winners at their discretion. The is no news or update about how the winners are selected. But one thing is certain, the scholarship is merit-based.

For a higher chance to be selected instead of your pairs, you need to submit a very comprehensive essay, with an outstanding academic record and a very good record of participating in extracurricular activities.
