The DREAMS for Youth Scholarship
United Way of Long Island announces the DREAMS for Youth Scholarship for high school students looking forward to furthering their education. Since its beginning in 2002, United Way of Long Island has granted more than $1,000,000.00 in scholarships and/or grants in the categories of Academics and Enrichment. The D.R.E.A.M.S. For Youth Advisory Board, which includes students from 7th grade to college, makes award judgments with the help of United Way employees. D.R.E.A.M.S. for Youth scholarship is supported by the Dreams R Us Foundation.
Level/Field of Study
This scholarship is for students that desire to further their education at a recognised university. It is meant for Americans and not open to international students

The DREAMS for Youth Scholarship is hosted by United Way of Long Island for Americans.
Eligibility for the DREAMS for Youth Scholarship
You must be a Long Island resident who attends a Nassau or Suffolk County Middle or High School.
You must be a graduating high school senior to qualify for Academic Scholarships.
You must be in 7th through 12th grade to apply for an Enrichment Scholarship.
Academic and enrichment scholarships need you to show financial need.
Requirements to Apply for the DREAMS for Youth Scholarship
Academic and enrichment scholarships need proof of financial need.
Academic scholarships demand a copy of the FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) as well as a copy of the parent or guardian’s most recent tax return (first two pages only).
For Enrichment Scholarships, parents or guardians must provide a copy of their most recent tax return (first two pages only). The application must be accompanied by these papers.
How to Apply
To apply, download the DREAMS for Youth Scholarship Application form, fill and email it alongside the required documents to trivers@unitedwayli.org.
Selection Process
United Way of Long Island takes care of the selection process for the DREAMS for Youth Scholarship at its own discretion.
In mid-to-late June, you will be updated on your status. Payments will be handled after your official tuition bill from your particular college arrives, which will include the school’s name and address, as well as your name and student ID number.
Scholarship Award
The D.R.E.A.M.S. for Youth Scholarship is given out in two categories:
Academic – Assists with educational fees at a college, university, private school, or vocational school. Applicants must be in grade 12 and demonstrate financial need as well as a desire to help others. The prizes range from $1,000 to $2,500.
Enrichment – Assists with the costs of activities that nourish the spirit, body, heart, or mind, or that encourage creativity. Music, singing, dancing, and painting instruction; computer graphics training; acting, photography, and fashion design; and specialised summer camps are just a few examples. Enrollment fees, instruments, and/or supplies may be covered by the funds. Applicants must be in grades 7-12, demonstrate financial need, and pledge to volunteer in the community. The prizes range from $100 to $2,500.

D.R.E.A.M.S. for Youth Scholarship applications is now being accepted for the school year 2024.
