Pennsylvania State University Scholarships
Penn State enrols a large number of outstanding and academically talented students each year. One in every four of our undergraduates receives a University scholarship. Awards differ and are determined by donor guidelines based on merit, financial need, or a combination of the two, as defined by the specific scholarship program. Scholarship awards can range from $1,500 to $5,000 per year, but the average value is usually no more than $2,500. One in every four of our undergraduates receives a University scholarship.
A limited number of scholarships may be available through Penn State’s Office of Student Aid, academic colleges, individual campuses, or other administrative units, with eligibility based on need, merit, or a combination of the two.
1. Steve A. Garban Grant-in-aid
Eligibility Requirements
- The applicant must be the child of a full-time Penn State or Penn College technical service or staff member.
- A first-year, full-time student at any Penn State campus or the Pennsylvania College of Technology is required.
- Extracurricular activities in high school must have demonstrated leadership and humanitarian qualities.
- Must have achieved academic success or show promise of doing so
Application Deadline
Letters from students will be accepted until April 15, 2024. The Office of Student Aid Scholarship Committee will select the award recipient, who will be announced in May. Every applicant will be notified.
2. Frank A. Sinon Scholarship at Penn State
Eligibility Requirements
- You must be an undergraduate student at Penn State University.
- Park, a graduate of Austin Area High School in Austin, Pennsylvania
- Academic success must be demonstrated.
- Financial need must be demonstrated as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required.
Application Deadline
Submissions will be accepted until August 12, 2024. The Office of Student Aid Scholarship Committee will select the award recipient, who will be announced in September. All applicants will receive a notification.
3. Henrietta M. Fisher Memorial Honor Scholarship Fund
Eligibility Requirements
- You must be a first-year baccalaureate student at University Park.
- FAFSA must be filed
- You must live in Dauphin County (Steelton-Highspire High School graduates preferred)
- Any college major is possible (Engineering, Earth & Mineral Science, Science, Communications, and Liberal Arts majors preferred)
- Must show leadership and patriotism (ROTC students preferred)

4. Laurel Haven Endowment Scholarship
Eligibility Requirements
- Students must be enrolled in the Pennsylvania State University College of Agricultural Sciences Department of Ecosystem Science and Management (first recipient preference)
- Must be a student in the College of Education with a major in elementary or secondary education and a passion for environmental education, or a student in the College of Agricultural Sciences with an option in Environmental Sciences (second recipient preference)
- For the Fall/Spring semesters, you must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student.
- Must be involved in, or have previously been involved in, conservation education and still be interested in it.

5. The David Schwebel Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be the child of an active, full-time Schwebel Baking Company or its subsidiaries and divisions employee who has been with the company for at least two years.
- You must be a current or prospective undergraduate student at Penn State.
- Academic merit must be achieved or demonstrated.
- Financial need must be demonstrated as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- First-year students who are eligible are given priority.
Application Deadline
Applications must be submitted to Kym McGivern at the Schwebel Baking Company by May 13, 2024. All applicants will receive a notification.
6. Employees of Consolidated Freightways Scholarship
Eligibility Requirements
- A child or grandchild of a former Consolidated Freightways employee is required.
- Students must be enrolled at either Penn State Harrisburg or Penn State York.
- You must be an outstanding undergraduate student.
- Financial need must be demonstrated as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

7. Andrew James Bartels Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility Requirements
- You must be a full-time undergraduate student attending or planning to attend any Penn State campus.
- Academic merit must be achieved or demonstrated.
- Financial need must be demonstrated as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Must have earned the Boy Scouts of America’s Star, Life, or Eagle rank.

8. Richard J. and Dolores Bush Scuderi Scholarship
Eligibility Requirements
- You must be a current undergraduate or graduate student at any Penn State campus.
- Academic success must be demonstrated.
- Financial need must be demonstrated as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Must be in good standing with the Office of Judicial Affairs.
- First-generation students are given preference (i.e., the first one in the family to attend college)

9. Dolores Bush Scuderi and Richard J. Scuderi Scholarship
