Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship at the University of Toronto

These scholarships, which are given out annually, honour deserving students from all around the world, including foreigners who attend Canadian high schools. The most renowned and competitive scholarship available to overseas students at U of T is this one. For four years, full housing support, as well as tuition, books, and incidentals, are all included in the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships. The grant is exclusively valid for first-year undergraduate programs at the University of Toronto. The number of Lester B. Pearson Scholars will be around 37 per year.
This scholarship, which is one of the top scholarships in Canada, is awarded in the name of the father of modern peacekeeping, Lester B. Pearson. He was one of Canada’s best prime ministers and the only Canadian to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

This scholarship is for those seeking admission for a bachelor’s degree only. There is no restriction as to the course of study for this scholarship.

Eligibility for the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship
To qualify for the Pearson International Scholarship, you must be one of the following:
- a non-Canadian international student (i.e., one who needs a study permit);
- enrolled in your last year of high school or who will graduate no earlier than June 2022;
- starting your studies at the University of Toronto in September 2023. (students already attending post-secondary studies cannot be considered;
- students starting their studies in January 2023 at another post-secondary institution cannot be considered)
The application process for the Lester B. Pearson Scholarship
You must be nominated by your school and apply to the University of Toronto for undergraduate study in order to be considered a new Pearson Scholar. Inquire about nominations from the guidance counsellor at your school. Your private, secure link to the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship application will be emailed to you once you have been nominated and submitted an application to the University of Toronto.
Students who have shown remarkable academic ability and inventiveness, who are recognized as leaders in their schools, and who have the potential to make future contributions to the global community are considered to be Pearson Scholars. By virtue of their range of interests, intellectual vigour, and influence on the life of their school and society, they can be distinguished from other kids who may have comparable excellent academic accomplishments.
Scholarship Award
For four years, the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships will cover tuition, books, incidental fees, and full residence support. The scholarship is only available for first-year undergraduate programs at the University of Toronto.
Deadline for the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship
- Deadline for school nominations: November 30, 2022
- Deadline for student OUAC applications: December 14, 2022 (Please note that this is the last day to apply through the OUAC; it is advised that you apply for admission through the OUAC before November 7, 2022, as popular programs may close early and spots in them fill up rapidly.)
- The deadline for student scholarship applications is January 16, 2023.
