Application Process for the Emory University Scholarship

  • To be considered for any and all scholar programs, you must choose one of the three admission decision plans (Early Decision I, Early Decision II, or Regular Decision) and submit all needed application documents by November 15. (Those registering for Early Decision I must do so by November 1.)
  • You must also check the box on your application that states “Do you desire to be considered for merit scholarships?”

Selection Process

  • The Office of Admission, in collaboration with respected professors, manages the selection process for merit-based scholar programs.
  • Every year, between 8,000 and 10,000 students apply to be Scholars. Scholar Finalists are chosen from among 175-200 pupils. Finalists must attend a Scholars Finalists Visit on campus in the spring. Finalists are invited to campus at no cost to the student.
  • The tour, which will last several days, will include activities and interviews geared to help finalists become more acquainted with Emory University and the unique opportunities available to them here.
  • Applicants who are not chosen as program finalists are nonetheless completely examined for admission under their chosen application plan and are automatically considered for additional minor merit-based awards.
  • The Scholar selection procedure is distinct from the financial aid method. Merit scholarships are awarded first when a student is eligible for both merit scholarships and financial aid. If there is still a need after the merit scholarship award, students who applied for financial aid may be eligible for need-based grants and loans.
