Loyola Marymount University LMU Scholarships provides a variety of academic award programmes to recognise and honour their most remarkable new students’ academic achievements. These scholarships do not need a separate application. All admissions applications are automatically considered. Academic achievement is based on one or more of the following factors: GPA, the rigour of the college prep programme, class status, or standardised test scores. Dedicated to Fr. Pedro Arrupe, the long-serving Superior General of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose goal of Educating Men and Women for Others has become consistent with Jesuit education. Arrupe Scholarships are very challenging and competitive, with awards ranging from $12,500 to full tuition and are renewable for four years.

Loyola Marymount University LMU Presidential Scholarships 

Presidential Students are chosen from among the University’s top candidates and receive $30,000 each year for four years. Furthermore, Presidential Scholars are automatically admitted to the University Honors Program. The Presidential Scholarship also provides a summer internship research experience through our Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) and participation in the Presidential Scholarship Mentorship Program of the Office of Career and Professional Development. Presidential Scholars are given housing on campus for all four years, however, it is not obligatory.

Jesuit and Marymount High School Scholarships

In honour of the principles and traditions shared by Loyola Marymount University LMU and the Jesuit and Marymount high/secondary schools in the United States, the Jesuit or Marymount High School Scholarship will be presented yearly to one student from each of these high schools. This scholarship is worth $12,500 per year and is renewable for four years, for a net amount of $50,000. In addition to academic achievement, selection for this award takes into account participation in school and community activities, leadership, and service.

Jesuit Community Scholarship

This award is given by LMU’s Jesuit community to graduates of Jesuit or other Catholic secondary schools who have made significant contributions to their community through service and leadership. Each year, about ten Jesuit Community Scholarships are offered. Winners of the Jesuit Community Scholarship will receive $10,000 every year for four years, for something like a sum of $40,000.

If you are awarded a merit-based scholarship from Loyola Marymount University, you should consider the following incentives, expectations, and duties that apply to any of the following LMU awards: Jesuit Community Scholarship, Presidential Scholarship, Arrupe Scholarship, Jesuit and Marymount High School Scholarship

  • Freshman merit scholarships at Loyola Marymount University are renewable for four years (eight semesters) at the university.
  • Transfer merit scholarships at Loyola Marymount University are renewable for up to three years (six semesters) at LMU.
  • Each semester, fifty per cent of your yearly scholarship will be disbursed and deposited into your student account.
  • Summer session courses and non-LMU study abroad programmes are not covered by your institutional scholarship.
  • You must enrol full-time (12 units or more) each semester to retain your scholarship eligibility.
  • You must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
  • Notify LMU Financial Aid of any other scholarship offers or other resources you receive, such as tuition benefits from a parent’s job or veteran’s benefits. (Please note that scholarship awards may be altered to ensure that all institutional, federal, and state laws are met.)
